Boone Memorial Hospital, Inc. (dba Boone Memorial Health) (BMH), has officially cut the ribbon to commemorate the opening of its new clinic location in Danville, W.Va. The BMH Danville Clinic, a rural health clinic of Boone Memorial Health, occupies the space formerly known as the DaVita building on 300 4th Avenue in Danville. Boone Memorial Health purchased the property in June 2023, completing renovations in late October to offer expanded space for the health system’s walk-in clinic and growing number of specialty services.
“This beautifully renovated, 14,000 square foot facility represents a multimillion-dollar investment by BMH and, more importantly, our commitment to the promises we have made to the community,” said Boone Memorial Health Chief Executive Officer Virgil Underwood. “Those promises include increasing access to affordable, high-quality care; offering services that the community needs; working to make people healthier and not just caring for them when they are sick; creating jobs and employing local residents; and doing all of those things with facilities, technology, and equipment of which the community can be proud. As we like to say simply, it’s a promise to continue Bringing Medicine Home.”
The event was attended by local elected officials, business leaders, community members, and BMH personnel, and featured remarks from Underwood, Danville Mayor Mark McClure, BMH Chief Medical Officer Amy Sayre, M.D., and BMH Chief Clinic Integration Officer Kevin Fowler.
Boone Memorial Health’s Walk-In Clinic, formerly located on State Street in Madison, now occupies the first floor of the new BMH Danville Clinic, making treatment for minor injuries and illnesses available without need for an appointment 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Walk-In Clinic has been open in its new location since October 22.
The BMH Danville Clinic also includes clinical office space on the second floor of the facility, giving community members convenient access to appointments with specialty providers in the fields of pediatrics, dermatology, urology, and general surgery. The BMH Pediatrics office, led by Dr. Alexandria Carter, is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Dr. Carter provides medical care for children from the time they are newly born through their teen years, offering preventive care as well as treatment for acute illnesses and chronic pediatric diseases. She also provides referrals to other specialists, when needed, and accepts same-day appointments for sick children.
The BMH Dermatology office, led by Dr. Shane Cook and Nurse Practitioner MaryLea Seacrist in collaboration with Marshall Health Network, is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. by appointment. Patients can receive medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology care at BMH Danville Clinic.
Patient visits to the BMH Urology and General Surgery offices, staffed by Urologist Ryan Fitzwater, DO, in collaboration with Charleston Area Medical Center, and General Surgeon Charles Lucente, MD, in collaboration with WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals, are available by referral appointments only. Dr. Fitzwater diagnoses and treats urinary, bladder, and kidney conditions affecting men and women. He also specializes in conditions involving the male reproductive system. Dr. Lucente conducts pre-surgical consultations at the BMH Danville Clinic for the many general surgery procedures he performs at Boone Memorial Hospital.
