Boone Memorial Health is pleased to welcome Timothy Adkins, MD, to the BMH Danville Clinic. Dr. Adkins is now accepting patients for comprehensive adult primary care and specialized infectious disease services.
Dr. Adkins provides routine and preventive primary care for adults, along with the evaluation, treatment and ongoing management of infectious diseases. His addition to the BMH team expands access to specialized care while allowing patients to receive the services they need close to home.
“I am excited to join Boone Memorial Health and serve the people of Southern West Virginia,” said Dr. Adkins. “I look forward to working alongside the BMH team to provide thoughtful, patient-centered care and help individuals better understand and manage their health.”
Dr. Adkins earned his medical degree from the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. He then completed an internal medicine residency and an infectious disease fellowship at West Virginia University. He is licensed to practice medicine in West Virginia and holds certifications in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support.
Dr. Adkins has also contributed to research addressing important health concerns affecting West Virginians. In 2024, he published a study on Coal Workers’ Pneumoconiosis, commonly known as black lung disease. In 2026, he presented research examining HIV diagnosis rates in West Virginia at IDWeek in Atlanta.
Dr. Adkins is a member of the American College of Physicians, the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Wilderness Medical Society. His accomplishments include receiving the Best Poster Presentation Award at Marshall Research Day.
A veteran of the United States Army’s Third Infantry Division, Dr. Adkins deployed in support of the War on Terror during his military service. In recognition of his service and accomplishments, he received an Army Commendation Medal and two Army Achievement Medals.
