NEW ORLEANS, L.A. – Boone Memorial Health (BMH) is pleased to announce that Melissa Price, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, a BMH Cardiology nurse practitioner, has been inducted as an Associate of the American College of Cardiology (AACC). The designation was conferred at the ACC’s 75th Annual Scientific Session & Expo in New Orleans, where Price took an oath affirming her commitment to providing the highest quality cardiovascular care to her patients.
The Associate of the American College of Cardiology designation is among the most distinguished honors the ACC bestows upon cardiovascular team members. To earn the AACC, nurse practitioners must hold active national board certification in cardiovascular medicine — a standard the ACC developed to recognize advanced practice providers who have demonstrated a serious and sustained commitment to excellence in cardiac care.
“I never imagined, when I stepped into this practice, how passionate I would become about this work,” said Price. “Being inducted into the ACC and taking that oath surrounded by some of the best cardiovascular professionals in the country confirmed for me that I am exactly where I am supposed to be. My patients are my reason. This is for them.”
Price earned her path to the AACC designation by passing the ACC’s Certified Cardiovascular Knowledge Examination (CCKE), a rigorous assessment designed specifically for nurse practitioners and physician assistants to demonstrate expertise in cardiovascular medicine. Passage of the exam not only qualifies candidates for the AACC designation but also establishes credit toward the Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), the organization’s highest credentialing tier.
“Melissa’s induction into the ACC is a reflection of who she is as a clinician every single day,” said Casey Hager, MD, FACC, board-certified cardiologist and Chief of Staff at Boone Memorial Health. “She approaches her patients and her profession with extraordinary dedication. This recognition is well-earned, and our patients throughout southern West Virginia are fortunate to have a provider of her caliber right here at home.”
Price has practiced exclusively at BMH Cardiology for more than four years, where she works alongside Dr. Hager in diagnosing, managing, and treating a wide range of heart conditions. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner focus from Wheeling Jesuit University. Her induction also marks a new starting point, as Price has already begun pursuing certification as a Clinical Lipid Specialist, an advanced credential focused on managing lipid disorders and reducing cardiovascular risk.
“This is exactly the kind of professional development that differentiates Boone Memorial Health,” said Jeff Mosteller, Boone Memorial Health Chief Clinic Services Officer. “Melissa’s commitment to advancing her expertise directly benefits the patients we serve. The AACC designation is a nationally recognized mark of excellence, and it is a testament to the quality of care our cardiology team delivers.”
