Congratulations to the November 2023 Boone Memorial Health DAISY Award Honoree, Blitz Turner, APRN-BC, Director of Employee Health. The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses, like Blitz, provide every day.

The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. The DAISY Nurse Leader Award recognizes nurses who are extraordinary in the impact they have on compassionate patient care.

“Our nurses are truly exemplary,” said Terri Castle, BSN, RN, Chief Nursing Officer. “It’s a challenge to select one DAISY winner out of so many caring, skilled nurses we have here at Boone Memorial Health, but Blitz embodies every attribute.”

The Boone Memorial Health DAISY Award Committee established the following criteria, to be used in the selection process:

*Any RN, LPN, or APRN is eligible to receive the DAISY Award
*Two awards given annually
*Nominations accepted anytime (all year long)
