Grace Anne Dorney Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center
Pulmonary Rehabilitation, also called Pulmonary Rehab or PR, is a broad program that helps improve the quality of life for people who are diagnosed with chronic, ongoing breathing problems.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation can benefit patients who have COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), sarcoidosis, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis emphysema, chronic bronchitis, and black lung disease. It can also benefit people who need to undergo lung surgery, both before and after their operation. As part of our Pulmonary program, BMH also offers Pulmonary Function Testing and In-Home Sleep Studies.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation at BMH is offered for patients under the guidance of our trained, licensed Respiratory Therapists. Rehab is an outpatient program that includes individual treatment plans, exercise sessions, teaching sessions, and breathing/relaxation techniques.
Boone Memorial Health is honored to be one of five rural health organizations in the State of West Virginia that received financial support from the Dorney Koppel Family Charitable Foundation to open our rehabilitation center. The center is named in honor of Grace Ann Dorney Koppel, the wife of former ABC News anchor, Ted Koppel, who was diagnosed with COPD in 2001.
