Walk With Ease

Walk With Ease is an Arthritis Foundation-certified program that Boone Memorial Health’s Population Health team offers to the community free of charge.  The program is a physical activity and self-management education program, and while walking is the central activity, Walk With Ease is a multi-component program that also includes health education, stretching exercises, strengthening exercises, and motivational strategies. The program includes a guidebook and a walking schedule to get you safely moving toward better health.

Program Objectives

The objectives for the BMH Walk With Ease program is to help participants:

  • Understand the basics of arthritis and the relationship between exercise and arthritis pain management
  • Exercise safely and comfortably
  • Make a personal walking plan and goals
  • Learn about other programs to maintain physical activity

How Participants Benefit

The Walk With Ease program is designed to:

  • Reduce the pain and discomfort of arthritis
  • Increase balance, strength, and walking pace
  • Build confidence in your ability to be physically active
  • Improve overall health

While the program was designed for individuals with arthritis, you do not have to have arthritis to participate. The only requirement for participation is the ability to stand for at least 10 minutes without increased pain.

Walk With Ease is a six week program. New sessions start periodically throughout the year.

Classes last one hour, three times per week, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the six-week period.
