When you have a medical condition requiring hospital admission, you will be admitted for inpatient care. Boone Memorial Health is a 25-bed critical access hospital that provides inpatient care to adult and pediatric populations. All of our patient rooms are private with a large, private bathroom. Most patients are treated and released the same day, however, there are some cases that may require an overnight stay for further treatment or testing. With an around-the-clock team of Hospitalists and medical staff, BMH is equipped to provide you with superior inpatient care.

A Hospitalist is a hospital-based doctor who specializes in caring for hospitalized patients. At BMH, our Hospitalists have undergone post-graduate residency training in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Hospitalists typically spend all or most of their workday in the hospital caring for sick patients. During your stay, our Hospitalists are focused on your treatment and are accessible when you and your family have questions about your care.

Once your treatment is complete, the Hospitalist will help you transition back to your Primary Care Provider. If you do not have a Primary Care Provider or family doctor, the Hospitalist can refer you to one upon discharge from the hospital.

Hospitalists delivery a wide range of care to hospitalized patients, including:

  • Assessing and treating your medical condition throughout your admission
  • Managing your hospital care by arranging for diagnostic tests such as x-rays, blood tests, or nuclear medicine studies
  • Arranging specialty care that may include consults with specialists such as a Cardiologist, Orthopedist, or Physical Therapist
  • Coordinating any Home Health services or medical equipment that may be needed upon discharge
  • Ensuring that the transition back to your Primary Care Provider is a smooth one
