The Boone Memorial Health Foundation is proud to announce that Market on Main, a community-driven initiative designed to strengthen health, wellness, and economic vitality in Southern West Virginia, opened its doors to the public on Friday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. Grand Opening festivities continued through Saturday, Sept. 20 with live entertainment, family activities, and opportunities to explore the vibrant new space in downtown Madison.
More Than a Market
Market on Main represents a long-term investment in the health and well-being of Boone County and the surrounding region.
The project was first announced in 2024 as the Boone Memorial Farmers Market and Greenhouse, and has since been renamed as Market on Main—a year-round hub that will:
- Provide fresh, affordable produce to address food insecurity.
- Support local farmers, producers, boosting economic stability and growth.
- Offer educational opportunities around sustainable agriculture and healthy living.
- Create a gathering place for music, workshops, and events that bring neighbors together.
By combining healthy food access with opportunities for community connection, Market on Main is a cornerstone of the Foundation’s mission to promote healthier lifestyles across the region.
A Community-Driven Investment
Market on Main is made possible thanks to a coalition of partners who share a vision for a stronger Boone County. Funding support has come from the U.S. Economic Development Authority, the State of West Virginia, and generous private donors, making this project a true community success story.
The Boone Memorial Health Foundation sees Market on Main as an extension of its broader work—bridging healthcare and community life and tackling root causes of poor health like food insecurity and lack of access to wellness resources.
