Boone Memorial Health is excited to share that our own Chief Financial Officer, Cole Malcolm, has been awarded the Sister M. Madeleine Lopez President’s Award by the West Virginia Chapter of Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). Cole was chosen for this award because of his commitment and support of the local HFMA Chapter over the past 18 months.

While serving in this leadership capacity, Cole has participated in presentation panels throughout the region including the West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina Chapters of HFMA. As a recurring panelist, Cole has shared the stage with colleagues and financial leaders in the healthcare industry to discuss the challenges, opportunities, and strategies used to navigate the evolving landscape of healthcare. Noted topics have included financial sustainability, technology & innovation, risk management, data analytics, investment priorities, value-based care, the regulatory environment, collaboration with providers, strategic partnerships, and their future outlook of the industry.

More about Sister M. Madeleine Lopez

Sister M. Madeleine Lopez has been an instrumental member of the West Virginia Chapter of HFMA since 1954. Ms. Lopez has served the Chapter in various capacities including the position of President twice in 1959-1960 and 1966-1967. She is also the recipient of the Follmer Bronze, Reeves Silver, and Muncie Gold and was awarded the Founders Medal of Honor in 1987. 

To honor Sister M. Madeleine Lopez for her many years of faithful and dedicated service to the West Virginia Chapter of HFMA the Sister M. Madeleine Lopez award was developed in 1999. The award is presented to a new chapter member for their outstanding support and participation in the activities, goals and achievements of the Chapter. Only West Virginia Chapter members who have joined the chapter in the previous 18 months are eligible.
