Boone Memorial Health is proud to announce that its hospital has again received a five-star rating for patient experience from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey.
According to Becker’s Hospital Review, only 273 hospitals nationwide and eight hospitals in West Virginia earned a five-star HCAHPS rating for the most recent reporting period.
For Boone Memorial Health, this marks the fifth consecutive year that its hospital has achieved the five-star mark.
“We are honored to receive this recognition for the fifth year in a row,” said Boone Memorial Health President and Chief Executive Officer, Virgil Underwood. “Providing exceptional healthcare and creating positive patient experiences is at the heart of everything we do. It takes commitment from every single department within our organization, and every member of our team plays a pivotal role in making patients and their families feel valued, respected, and important. While there is always room for us to improve as an organization, Boone Memorial Hospital’s five-star HCAHPS patient survey ratings are a direct reflection our team’s unwavering dedication to making patients feel like family.”
The HCAHPS survey is a national standard that measures patients’ experiences in hospitals, providing easy-to-understand information about the quality of care. It evaluates important elements such as communication with doctors and nurses, responsiveness of hospital staff, cleanliness, and management of pain.
For consumers, HCAHPS allows patients and their families to make informed healthcare decisions. By comparing HCAHPS scores at Medicare’s Care Compare page, prospective patients can identify hospitals that prioritize patient care and choose where they feel they will receive the best service.
