Boone Memorial Health (BMH) is pleased to announce that it has earned the 2025 Performance Leadership Award for Patient Perspective. Compiled annually by The Chartis Center for Rural Health, the Performance Leadership Awards honor rural hospitals achieving at or above the 75th percentile in the areas of Quality, Outcomes, and Patient Perspective.

“Our nurses, staff, and providers are the reason our patients feel supported the moment they walk through our doors,” said Stephanie McDougal, Chief Nursing Officer at Boone Memorial Health. “This recognition reflects the care and attention they bring to each patient encounter.”

The Performance Leadership Awards program is based on results from the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX®, a comprehensive and objective framework used to measure rural hospital performance across multiple operational and clinical areas.INDEX benchmarks are relied upon by health systems, hospital associations, state offices of rural health, and policymakers to evaluate and strengthen rural healthcare delivery.

“The areas of quality, outcomes, and patient perspective are cornerstones of healthcare delivery across rural America, and this year’s Performance Leadership Award recipients are establishing a standard of excellence for their rural peers to follow,” said Michael Topchik, Executive Director, Chartis Center for Rural Health. “We are delighted to shine a spotlight on such strong performance and honor the achievement of these hospitals on National Rural Health Day.”

“At BMH, delivering a world-class patient experience is not an aspiration—it is central to our Vision 2030 Strategic Plan,” said Angie Christian, Chief Operating Officer at Boone Memorial Health. “Our team works every day to try to deliver a level of service and communication that goes beyond what patients have come to expect from healthcare, and this award affirms that commitment.”
