Virgil Underwood

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Virgil Underwood, a West Virginia native was born in Fayette County. He moved to Kanawha County after graduating from college and has lived in Boone County for nearly 20 years.


Virgil has a B.S. Degree in Business from the West Virginia Institute of Technology and received a post-graduate certificate from the Bank Administration Institute Controllership Program at the University of Wisconsin. Additionally, he has held licenses as a General Securities Representative, a Uniform Investment Advisor, an Accredited ACH Professional, a Property & Casualty Insurance Advisor, a Retirement Planner, a Certified Public Accountant and has his private pilot’s license.


Virgil worked as Vice-President of One Valley Bank for eleven years, was a Financial Consultant and Coach for Merrill Lynch for seven years and Co-Owner of Allstate Insurance Agencies in Southern WV for fourteen years before working with Boone Memorial Hospital as a Board Member and Consultant.


Virgil has been deeply involved in his community serving on various boards including the American Lung Association, Junior Achievement of WV, Madison Buddy League Basketball, Madison Little League Baseball, Boone County Community Foundation Distribution Committee, the Driven Knights, and Boone Memorial Hospital.


Virgil currently resides in Country Estates subdivision in Madison with his wife, Liz, and their two children Patrick and Katie. Virgil also has two older sons, Jason and Adam, and four grandchildren.



Mark Linville,

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Employed at Boone Memorial since June 5, 1981. Mark’s first assignment at BMH was as a storekeeper. In 1984 Mark became the Director of Purchasing and held that position until 1996 when he was promoted to Executive Director of General Services. Mark holds an Associate in Arts in Administrative Sciences from Glenville State College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from West Virginia State College. He is currently pursuing his Masters of Science in Healthcare Administration. Mark is a member of the WV Hospital Association, WV Health Services and Partners in Health programs. He is also a member and Past President of the Madison Rotary Club, a Scoutmaster for Troop 289 in Madison and serves as a Youth Sunday School teacher and various boards of the Madison Baptist Church.

David Gresham,

Chief Development Officer (CDO)

David has been employed at Boone Memorial Hospital since 2008 as Revenue Cycle Manager and was promoted to Chief Development Officer in 2015. He previously served as CFO and Assistant Administrator of several Southern West Virginia hospital’s including Logan General, Williamson ARH, Welch Emergency Hospital and Cabell Huntington Hospital. David graduated from Morris Harvey College in 1978 and attended the The Ohio State University’s Graduate Executive Program in HealthCare Administration in 1982. David brings over 40 years of health care experience to Boone in the areas of Finance, Billing, Administration, Recruitment and Business Development.


David is a SSAC Registered Umpire and has coached various community sport teams such as Little League and Buddy League basketball. He is an avid golfer and gun enthusiast. 


David resides in Chapmanville with his wife Marsha. They have three children; Ryan, Zac and Makayla. 

Terri Castle, RN

Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)

Terri started her nursing career in 1992 as a Nursing graduate from Southern WV Community College. Her inspiration to pursue a nursing degree started after her completion of a Pre-med course and additional Secondary Educational studies in Math and Biology at Marshall University. She began her employment at Boone Memorial Hospital in 2002 as an ER nurse. Her overall career experience includes Emergency Nursing, Home Health, Cardiology and Psychiatric nursing.


Her current and previous certifications include ACLS, PALS, BTLS, CPR, TCI and NIMS. She has been a member of the Stroke Pilot Project of WV, Advisory Council Representative of CORE and an Advisory Committee Member at Southern WV Community and Technical College. In 2007, she became Assistant Director of Emergency Services and Education Coordinator at BMH. Her position advanced to Assistant Director of Nursing in 2011. Terri was named Chief Nursing Officer in 2015.


Terri graduated from the University of Louisiana Lafayette with a BSN Degree. She is a resident of Boone County and lives with her husband David Castle at Country Estates. Together, Terri and David have six children; Brooke, Levi, Garrett, Chandler, Jagger and Maddiex. 

Chad Hovis

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Chad joined the Administrative Team at Boone Memorial on November 26, 2018. He has over twenty years of Healthcare Consulting experience developing and implementing strategies to increase reimbursement for hospitals and physician clinics. He graduated Valedictorian from Logan High School in 1991 and received a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Marshall University in 1995.

Prior to coming to Boone Memorial, Chad was the Healthcare Consulting Senior Manager at Arnett Carbis Toothman, PLLC and a Healthcare Consulting Manager for DHG Healthcare’s National Reimbursement Practice, both located in Charleston, WV.


Chad is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (WVSCPA). He also serves as a board member for the Bible Center School in Charleston. 

Chad currently resides in Charleston with his wife of 12 years, Sarah. They have 2 children, Ella and Will. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, spending time with his children and exercising. 

As Chief Financial Officer, Chad implements processes and systems that significantly improve financial outcomes at Boone Memorial Hospital.

Angie Christian, BSN, RN, CRNI

Executive Director of Ancillary Services

Angie joined the Administrative Team at Boone Memorial on March 4, 2019. She directs all aspects of Inpatient Pharmacy, Laboratory, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Infusion, Respiratory Therapy, Cardiac Rehabilitation, and Dietary.

Prior to coming to BMH, Angie was the Vice President of Nursing for a national infusion company and previously a Regional General Manager overseeing two of its pharmacies. In addition, she has experience working as a private nurse for a cardiology practice and as a hospital staff nurse in the emergency room, operating room, and on the post cardiac catheterization unit.


Angie received an Associate Degree in Nursing from Southern West Virginia Community & Technical College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from South University. She also completed The Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI) Program, which is nationally recognized in credentialing nurses in infusion therapy. Angie is a member of the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) and the National Home Infusion Association (NHIA).


She currently resides in Alum Creek, WV with her husband, Derek, who is a Vice Principal at Winfield High School. They have four children; Gabe, who is the Principal at South Charleston High School and recently completed his Doctorate Degree in Education; Kelsey, who holds a Degree in Human Ecology and is currently pursuing a Nursing Degree at St. Mary’s School of Nursing; Hannah, who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and is currently pursuing an MBA at Ohio University and Logan, who attends Marshall University and is majoring in Biology.


Angie is a member of the Independent Missionary Baptist Church of Alum Creek and enjoys gardening and spending time with family in her spare time. As Executive Director of Ancillary Services, Angie works to implement processes that streamline work flow, improves patient experiences, and supports the growth of each ancillary department.
