About Boone Memorial

Boone Memorial strives to provide a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services, including prevention, wellness, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation as well as training and guidance to help our patients lead healthy, productive lives.

In fulfilling our mission, we recognize the need to provide high quality services at economical rates within our service area. The hospital further recognizes the responsibility to develop an organizational environment in which providers, employees, volunteers and other health professionals are held to high standards of performance and find maximum job satisfaction and achievement. As an equal opportunity employer, BMH serves all patients who present for services and will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin or physical and/or mental disabilities.

First-time visitors to Boone Memorial are often surprised by the depth and sophistication of our small hospital’s clinical offerings.

Notably, BMH was one of the first hospitals in the state to implement electronic health records long before federal deadlines. Boone Memorial boasts a fully digital radiology department, a full-time nuclear medicine program, and technologically advanced cardiac rehab program.

Designated as a level IV trauma center, Boone Memorial’s emergency department has implemented a sophisticated information system to enhance patient care, safety, communication and processes; is up-to-date on both advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support and has an excellent stroke team. In addition, the BMH Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Center offers physical therapy, occupational therapy, and athletic education.

BMH worked with partnering health care providers and neighboring communities to support the building of a dialysis center in Danville and the hospital has two Rural Health Clinics located off site; The Rapid Care Clinic and The BMH Medical Clinic.

Just last year our hospital opened the doors to the Grace Anne Dorney Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program which offers PFT’s (Pulmonary Functioning Testing), Pulmonary Rehabilitation and in-home sleep studies.

However, the services, education and outreach that Boone Memorial provides to others besides patients are a large part of what makes the hospital such a crucial part of the fabric of our community.

The BMH laboratory department, which is accredited by the College of American Pathologists, serves as a clinical teaching site for both Southern West Virginia Community College and Boone County Career and Technical Center phlebotomy classes. The pharmacy department offers community presentations on various health issues such as the dangers of drug interactions and the effects of caffeine, while the 30+ volunteers of the BMH Auxiliary provide support services both inside and outside the hospital walls.

The hospital regularly hosts unique educational and community events such as Food and Toy Drives, Go Red for Women campaign events, an annual drive through flu shot clinic and Veteran’s Day tribute, Blood Drives, lunch and learn health education sessions, and an annual health fair, to name a few.

While the community visionaries and hospital leadership of 1964 likely could not have pictured the BMH of today, we are confident that we are living up to all that they imagined.
