Statement of Incident from Boone Memorial Hospital

January 19th – MADISON, WV - Boone Memorial Hospital experienced a small fire at its main hospital location early this morning.

The fire occurred in one unoccupied room on the first floor. The Hospital’s fire safety sprinkler protection system and safety protocols were immediately initiated, and the fire was quickly contained. No patients or personnel were injured or otherwise in immediate risk of danger.

Neither the fire nor any resulting smoke spread to patient rooms or common areas. As a result, no evacuation of patients or personnel was necessary.

The fire caused minimal damage to the facility and equipment. The West Virginia Office of the State Fire Marshal and Boone Memorial Hospital are investigating the cause.
