Free Diabetes Classes starting October 1st

Boone Memorial Hospital and Quality Insights formed a partnership in 2013 to offer free diabetes classes to the community several times throughout the year. Classes last approximately 90 minutes in length and are held one day a week for a total of six weeks. All participants who attend at least 5 of the 6 classes will receive a certificate showing they have fully completed a certified diabetes class.
The next series of classes will be be held October 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th at Boone Memorial Hospital. Registration is now open.
Classes are held at Boone Memorial Hospital in the 1st floor private dining room (located across from the Gift Shop) and taught by Diabetes Education Empowerment Program Trainers from Quality Insights.
These educational sessions are part of the Everyone with Diabetes Counts (EDC) program, which is funded by Medicare and coordinated by Quality Insights. Classes are open to people who have diabetes, their family members and caregivers.
Through this series of classes, participants will learn about diabetes, including a focus on its risks, nutrition, weight management, and how to properly manage medications.
In addition to Boone County, EDC classes are being offered across the State of West Virginia.
