BMH Welcomes new Family Medicine Physician

Boone Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome Dr. Kenneth Chad Adkins (Chad). Dr. Adkins will begin providing comprehensive family medicine services at the Boone Memorial Hospital Medical Clinic on April 3, 2017. The Medical Clinic is located at 660-A South Main Street in Madison, beside the Madison Post Office. His specialty areas include family and emergency medicine. In addition to family medicine, Dr. Adkins will offer minor outpatient surgery such as joint injections, skin biopsies and laceration repair.

 

“I am very excited to join the BMH team,” said Dr. Adkins.

 

Dr. Adkins attended Medical School at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV where he received his Doctor of Osteopathy. His professional memberships include the American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and American Osteopathic Association.  

 

When asked why Dr. Adkins decided to go into medicine he said, “I wanted a career in which I could give back to the community. The human body is God’s greatest creation and I wanted to understand it to the absolute extent of my intellect.”

 

Dr. Adkins enjoys coaching and distance running in his spare time.

 

“I also value time with my children and am known as my wife’s farmhand. I love the outdoors.”

 

Dr. Adkins has been married to his wife Brandi for 14 years and they reside in Turtle Creek in Boone County.

 

“We have been together a total of 18 years. We met at Logan General when I was an orderly and she was a Registered Nurse.”

 

They have 4 children; Baylee, 14, Caroline, 12, Shannen, 10 and Collin, 8. His parents are Kenny and Lou Adkins, formerly of Man, WV. He and his family attend River Ridge Church in Charleston.

 

Dr. Adkins is a Life Time Alumnus and Clinical Assistant Professor at the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine. He is also a member of the American Osteopathic Association and Diplomate of the American Board of Family Physicians. He has special certifications in Fellow Emergency Medicine and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support). He is an ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) Instructor as well as an ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Instructor. He received the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine Primary Care Outstanding Preceptor Award in 2016.

 

Residents of Madison and surrounding communities are excited to welcome Dr. Adkins to the area. He will start at the Boone Memorial Hospital Medical Clinic on April 3, 2017. He will be available Monday – Friday from 8:30am – 4:30pm. He is accepting new patients at this time.
