On Friday, December 21st Boone Memorial Hospital employees sang Christmas carols throughout the hospital and made a special visit to each patient room. "We understand being in the hospital during the holidays is particularly difficult, so we wanted to do something to bring each and every patient a little Christmas cheer," said Mark Linville, Chief Operating Officer at Boone Memorial Hospital. In addition to carols, each patient received a beautiful red Christmas blanket, compliments of the hospital. The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) has awarded accreditation to the Boone Memorial Hospital Laboratory Department in Madison, West Virginia. The award was based on results of a recent on-site inspection as part of the CAP's Accreditation Programs. Boone Memorial Hospital Laboratory is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide. Boone Memorial Hospital in Madison, West Virginia is proud to announce it has received a 5 star rating, the highest achievement level possible, from CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services). Hospitals report data to CMS, which is the federal agency that runs the Medicare program, through the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program and the Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting (OQR) Program. The overall hospital rating includes 57 of the more than 100 measures reported on Hospital Compare, divided into 7 measure groups or categories: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care, and efficient use of medical imaging. BMH helps Miners in the Beckley area file Black Lung Claims

The Boone Memorial Hospital Black Lung Center in Madison is extending its services across the State of West Virginia by offering free outreach events aimed at helping miners complete their federal black lung claims. On December 5th, the hospital helped 100 miners complete their claims. "Miners have helped build this Country by providing coal to manufacture steel. We want to help them get the help and compensation they deserve, if in fact, they have black lung disease," said David Gresham, Chief Development Officer at Boone Memorial Hospital. Kimberly Holstein Hill loses 80.5lbs in the Boone Memorial Hospital Healthy Lifestyle Program

Kimberly Holstein Hill tried many futile attempts to lose weight over the years, only to end frustrated and defeated. That was, until she found the Healthy Lifestyle Program at Boone Memorial Hospital. “I literally tried everything to lose weight and failed miserably every time. I saw the advertisement for the program, which was entirely free, and thought I would give it one more try. Low and behold it worked,” said Kim. Kim lost 80.5 pounds in the program and has reached her goal weight. She won the title of ‘Biggest Overall Loser’. “I feel amazing.” When asked what made this program different from so many others, Kim explained that she learned to eat differently, without feeling deprived.
