NRHRC Flex Monitoring Team conducts site visit at BMH

On Monday March 14 the National Rural Health Resource Center (NRHRC) Flex Monitoring Team conducted a site visit at BMH. Those in attendance included Sarah Brinkman from the National office and Shawn Balleydier, Assistant Director of the West Virginia State Office of Rural Health Division of Rural Health and Recruitment, DHHR/BPH/OCHSHP. Brinkman is funded through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to assist the Flex programs and Critical Access Hospitals (CAH), like Boone Memorial, across the country to keep the programs stable and assist CAHs in any way possible. UC School of Pharmacy partners with BMH Wellness Program to offer health event

Students and Professors from the University of Charleston School of Pharmacy held a community health event at Boone Memorial Hospital on March 9, 2016. The event was part of the students Alternative Spring Break. Instead of taking a traditional spring break the Pharmacy students volunteered their time to provide health services to community members in the Madison area as well as hospital employees. Services offered included medication reviews, blood pressure checks and blood sugar checks. The students and professors provided one on one consultation so guests could ask questions about their medications. Family exceeds 25k goal to name a patient room in the new Boone Memorial in memory of Kelly Canterbu

On Saturday March 12th the Birthday for Kel fundraising event was held at the Madison Civic Center. The event is one of two held in memory of Kelly Elizabeth Canterbury who passed away unexpectedly last year due to complications with diabetes. All proceeds from both events benefit the new Boone Memorial Hospital, scheduled to open this year. The family is naming a patient room in her memory. The first fundraiser held on November 14th, Christmas for Kel, raised $15,000 of the $25,000 needed to name a patient room in the new hospital.
