Boone Memorial Health (BMH) is pleased to announce Ian Conner Lanham as the recipient of the 2024 Robert L. Brown Employee of the Year Award.
Ian is a Transporter in the Radiology Department, a position he has held since becoming part of the BMH family in 2022.
The announcement was made during Hospital Week at Boone Memorial Health’s Annual Employee Appreciation Luncheon on May 16, 2024, by BMH Chief Executive Officer Virgil Underwood. Underwood’s remarks during the awards ceremony, several of which are included below, directly reflect the rave reviews Ian received from his co-workers on the nomination forms.

“In a place where every role is vital, Ian shone brightly, not just for his efficiency, but for his unwavering positivity and an infectious personality that inspires each of us.”

“Every day, Ian arrives with a smile that radiates positivity, brings comfort to patients and lifts the spirits of staff members. His cheerful demeanor and genuine kindness have transformed routine tasks into opportunities to brighten someone’s day. Whether it’s reassuring a nervous patient before a procedure or offering assistance to a family in need, Ian approaches every interaction with empathy and grace.”

“In the bustling hallways of our hospital, where stress and tension can sometimes run high, Ian brings a sense of calmness and reassurance. Patients, visitors, and colleagues alike are greeted with warmth and kindness, making even the most challenging of days a little bit brighter.”

“Ian is more than just a cheerful face; he is the epitome of professionalism and dedication. Despite the demands of his role, he never falters in his commitment to providing the best possible care for our patients. Whether it’s escorting a patient to their vehicle, or delivering crucial supplies to different departments, this employee does so with grace, efficiency, and that trademark smile that we all know and love.”

“Beyond his duties, Ian embodies the values that define our hospital community – compassion, accountability, respect and excellence. Described as a ‘spectacular human being and co-worker,’ he lends a helping hand to anyone in need, from patients, to co-workers, to other departments – fostering a spirit of camaraderie that strengthens our bond as a healthcare family.”

“In a profession where small gestures can have a profound impact, this employee consistently goes above and beyond, – a phrase that several nominators used – leaving a lasting impression on those they encounter. This employee reminds us that compassion is not just a part of the job description; it’s a way of life.”

BMH Board of Directors Vice Chair, Bob Brown, the namesake for the Robert L. Brown Outstanding Service Award was present during the celebration. The Robert L. Brown Outstanding Service Award was established in 2020 to commemorate Mr. Brown’s three decades of outstanding service to BMH and as a means to recognize BMH Employee of the Year recipients for years to come.
