Boone Memorial Hospital now offers a new CT Scanner – The Aquilion ONE GENESIS Dynamic Volume 320 Slice CT.
“This scanner truly transforms CT,” said Jeff Mosteller, Executive Director of Ancillary Services. “We are thrilled to be able to offer this top-of-the-line equipment to our patients.”
GENESIS has been designed with a unique flared gantry, providing a calming, wide-open space for a better patient experience.
“Basically, the wider space makes the patient more comfortable,” explained Tahnee Mullins, Director of BMH Radiology. “Plus, the shorter bore is safer and gives our technologists better access to the patient from the front and rear of the machine,” she explained.
During CT procedures, patients can easily be cared for from the front and rear of the gantry.
“While there are many benefits of this newer scanner,” said Mullins, “some most noteworthy include; faster scan times, lower radiation dose, higher resolution/excellent image quality, wide-open space, and higher patient weight limit. It’s very exciting to bring this state-of-the-art scanner to the patients of Boone Memorial.”
GENESIS incorporates advanced technologies to provide a better experience for both the patient and the clinician. Technologies such as AiCE and SEMAR provide the clinician with the confidence that they require to assure a correct diagnosis. AiCE is an innovative Deep Learning Reconstruction technology that has been trained to reduce noise and increase spatial resolution to deliver sharp, clear, and distinct images fast, as well as provide a low radiation dose hi-resolution exam to every patient.
Canon Medical’s SEMAR (Single Energy Metal Artifact Reduction) utilizes a technique to reduce metallic artifact, improving visualization of implants and the adjacent soft tissues for a clearer and more confident diagnosis. This helps provide an artifact free image for patients with metallic implants, such as bilateral hip or knee replacements.
“At Boone Memorial Hospital, we strive to continually improve upon our services, including equipment upgrades,” said Angie Christian, Chief Operating Officer. “We feel this installation of the Aquilion ONE GENESIS Dynamic Volume 320 Slice CT is one that will allow our physicians to make quicker, yet accurate diagnoses, while providing the most comfortable setting for our patients.”
