William R. “Bill” Stone
Recognized for 35 years service to Boone Memorial Hospital & the Community
William R. “Bill” Stone has been an integral part of the community and Boone Memorial Hospital for 35 years. Stone was
appointed to the Boone Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees in 1972 and has held the position of President of the Board since 1980.
Boone Memorial Hospital and the local community have seen many accomplishments and advances under Stone’s leadership. For example, the hospital has expanded on 5 occasions, including expanding all hospital services & adding more than 20 new services in the past 7 years. BMH was one of the first hospitals in WV to become “Smoke Free” and the first facility in WV to sign a Partnership Agreement with another larger medical facility due to Stone’s support and vision.
Stone is a Boone County Native, born and raised in Van, West Virginia. He graduated from Van High School and attended college in Pikeville, Kentucky on a Basketball Scholarship where he obtained a degree in Business. After college, he spent four years in the United States Air Force and taught school in Ohio for one year before returning “home” to West Virginia.
Stone co-owned Boone Remodeling for a number of years and purchased J & R Repairs (a mine cable supply business) in 1979, where he remains the owner today. He also serves on the Madison HealthCare Clinic Board.
Stone is married to his lovely wife Judy, a retired school teacher. He is a member of the Madison Methodist Church, The Kanawha Valley Mine Institute, Friends of Coal and is very active in the WVU Alumni & Friends.
Stone is a leader and visionary. Boone Memorial Hospital fellow Board of Trustees, Administration, employees and patients commend Stone for years of service to the community. Congratulations for 35 years of service and dedication.
