Boone Memorial Hospital would like to recognize the February 2012 Employee of the Month – Sherri Muncy. Sherri currently resides in Danville and has been a hard-working, caring and dedicated employee at BMH for 5 years. She is an Emergency Room (ER) Referral Clerk.
“I make appointments for our ER and in-house patients to see Specialists. I schedule out-patient testing and handle pre-certifications for insurance for the tests,” explains Muncy. “I love helping my patients find the right Specialist who will give the best care possible. I am very particular about who I send my patients to see,” she added.
Fellow employees agree that Sherri has a wonderful work ethic and a very positive attitude.
“Sherri is always very sweet and helpful to all the patients and is always willing to help me anytime I need it,” said friend and fellow co-worker Elicia Baisden.
Jean Reynolds, friend and co-worker adds, “Sherri truly cares about the patients and works diligently to get them referred to someone who can help them. She is a wonderful patient advocate and valuable to our team.”
Sherri is the daughter of Drewie & Barbara Meade of Logan. She was born and raised in Logan County, West Virginia and moved to Madison in 1982 to open a small business. She was the previous owner of a jewelry and sporting goods store for 19 years before coming to BMH.
She has a 15-year old son, Damien Chase, who is a freshman at Scott High School.
“He makes his mom very proud,” said Sherri.
She has also been in a relationship with a “wonderful” man for the past 5 years.
“I love it so much, but I do like being my own person,” said Sherri. “I also love reading James Patterson books, swimming, long walks with ‘my guys’ and riding my bicycle in the evenings.”
In addition to spending time with “her guys”, Sherri enjoys church activities.
“I have been a Christian for only a year and a half thanks to a Revival that our very own BMH Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Jeff Mosteller was preaching. I belong to Lick Creek Community Church and it is the most precious church – a real community church. My New Year’s resolution is to have faith in my Lord and that is one resolution I can keep,” said Sherri.
At one time Sherri took a year at VOCA for Medical Assistant Training and held an “A” average, but explains that the best training she received prior to coming to Boone Memorial Hospital was working at Boone Homecare Supplies for Kaye and Charlie Ellis.
“I was trained in coding, billing and insurance pre-certifications. It was a great learning experience.”
In celebration of Sherri’s award, she was honored with a designated parking space and free lunch for the entire month of February and a recognition plaque that is displayed in the front lobby at BMH.
“I was so grateful and happy. It is truly an honor to be recognized for the work that you do. I did not realize that this job would come with so much more to offer. I love it and everyone here. I am so lucky to be with these people. Not only do I love this place, the care that our patients receive from our staff is TOP NOTCH,” said Sherri.
Sherri’s Supervisor and Director of Emergency Services, Terri Dolin concluded by saying, “Sherri is very kind hearted and always goes the extra mile to ensure proper follow up for our patients as needed. She always greets you with a genuine smile and offers her assistance whenever help is needed. We're very pleased to have her as part of our BMH team.”
Congratulations Sherri! We are proud of you!
