Hard-working, intelligent and funny are just a few of the many words used to describe the August 2011 Employee of the Month at Boone Memorial Hospital. James Walker who currently resides in Danville has been a Staff Technologist in the BMH Radiology Department for 10 years.
James has an Associate of Applied Science and a Bachelor of Science, both in Radiologic Sciences. Daily he performs X-Ray and CT exams on patients, CT Quality Assurance and handles Patient Scheduling. James is also a member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and is seen as a great asset to Boone Memorial Hospital.
"James is a very reliable employee who has not called in sick for several years. He is a great help with troubleshooting and maintaining all of our new digital radiology equipment and has a good rapport with our older patients," said Greg Zornes, Director of Radiology at BMH.
Co-workers agree that James is a pleasure to work with.
"I'm always happy to work with James. We make a good team and work well together," said Lisa Pratt, fellow Co-worker.
Barbara Lipford adds, "James is a good friend and I enjoy working with him. He's a dependable and loyal employee. He is an asset to the BMH Radiology Department and is very deserving of this award. It's truly amazing how smart he is; he knows so much and I have learned a lot from James. I appreciate him very much."
James says the favorite part of his job is working with patients.
"I like doing my part toward patient care. Boone Memorial is a great place to work and it's close to home," he said.
James has been praised for his knowledge and skill with computer technology.
"In Radiology not only do we deal with CPSI, Computer Programs and Systems, Inc which has been serving the information technology needs of community healthcare providers for over 32 years, we have other sites such as PACS, E Rad and Emdat we use daily. James has been known to be my IT guide. He works with such speed on the computer and can fix just about anything. James has a wonderful sense of humor. It is always great to have a few 'Vicky' laughs in the work area," she said.
Angie Chafin, another member of the Radiology staff adds, "I have worked with James for about 10 years and I do love to work with him. He is a great worker and makes the shift more fun. Plus he is always so helpful when I need his assistance on the CPSI system."
When James isn't busy working at BMH he enjoys music, movies, swimming, reading, camping, fishing and baseball. His parents, Rose and Roger Walker, have supported James throughout his career endeavors.
James was honored with a designated parking space and free lunch for the entire month of August and a recognition plaque that is displayed in the front lobby at BMH.
